MEET KATE FACT SHEET

What have we done?

The Meet Kate Foundation became an official foundation with ANBI status in the Netherlands on 27th April 2007.

The Meet Kate Foundation's first project was the construction of a hostel
and an electricity network in 2007 at FrankEve: a vocational school for girls.
The cost of this project was € 19.000.

Meet Kate financed the construction of a children's home and day-care centre between 2008 and 2010.
The costs amounted to € 130.000.

Meet Kate financed the construction of the Meet Kate academy, a primary school in Ekwamkrom in 2012.
The opening of this school was on the 25th of January 2013. The cost amounted to €120.000.

Meet Kate bought a total of 3.5 hectares of land for agriculture in 2010 and 2011.

Of this land, 2.5 hectares was used to cultivate a cocoa plantation to ensure the sustainability of the projects
and 1 hectare is being used to grow food for use in the children’s home.

In 2012 Meet Kate started her own poultry farm with 1000 chickens.
That same year we were able to start our expansion to 4000 chickens.
The building of the new poultry farm started ending of 2012 and will be finished in 2013.

In 2012 Meet Kate has opened a subsidiary foundation of Meet Kate in the United Kingdom.
Meet Kate UK will raise awareness about the positive side of Africa and help raise funds for the projects in Ghana.

What are we doing?

There are 25 children living in the children's home, 21 employees,
115 children who attend the day-care centre and 25 children who attend our primary school (class 1 and 2).

We are sponsoring 9 young people through our Meet Kate goes to school scholarship program to attend high school.
The cost for this scholarship program is € 1500, - per child for 3 years of education.

We continue with the expansion of our poultry farm.
The hens lay eggs that will be sold and the profits of this project
will be used in enabling the projects of the Meet Kate Foundation to become more self-sufficient.

What are we going to do?

The Meet Kate Academy has opened its doors in January 2013
and will enable around 150 children from the surrounding areas to attend classes.
The Meet Kate Foundation will provide a full scholarship for 20% of these children.

Our plans our to keep focusing on the self-reliance projects, 2013 will be the year we will also start our pig farm.
