Exeter Foodbank

EXETER FOODBANK
Exeter Foodbank, a Christian charity and part of the Trussell Trust (www.trusselltrust.org.uk) exists to provide people in crisis with three days of emergency food, whilst statutory and other organisations put in place more long term help for them.
It may seem almost unbelievable, but, even in a city such as Exeter, there are many different people, including families, students and pensioners who, due to circumstances beyond their control, have reached rock bottom.
The Foodbank has over 50 different organisations in the city that hold Foodbank vouchers. When a crisis is recognised by these agencies they are able to give the people in need a voucher which can be redeemed on a Foodbank distribution day.
Non perishable food is provided by the people of Exeter from a prescribed list of tinned and packaged goods. We also receive donations from a number of churches in the city that we work with, as well as many schools who support us with their Harvest Thanksgiving goods.

What is the Foodbank?
The Food Bank is designed to help individuals and families in crisis through the provision of 3 day's basic emergency food supplies.
Who are we?
We are a charitable company set up to feed local people in crisis. The project was seeded by the Trussell Trust a Christian charity helping to start Food Banks all around the country. Local people and churches in and around Exeter are joining together to be part of a project that makes a real difference to the lives of those in crisis.
Who gets the food?
We issue vouchers to local statutory agencies and charities who assess peoples needs. If they are in crisis and without money to buy food then they get issued a food bank voucher. The clients comes to our distribution point where we offer a drink whilst food is bagged for them.
We help young and old, singles and families from all backgrounds and ethnic origin, without prejudice. We aim to treat everyone fairly and with dignity
