Prayer of the day

  • O God, whose glory the heavens are telling, the earthyour power, the sea your might, and whose greatness all thehosts of heaven proclaim; to you belongs all glory, honour, majesty and praise; both now and for ever, and to the ages ofages.Amen.Liturgy of Saint James (fifth century)Thank you, God, for the precious gift of memory.Thank you for the ability to recallpast blessings and glimpses of grace;to remember Scripture, favourite hymns, sacred poetry and prose;for memories that encourage and comfort, warn or restrain.Help us to deal positivelywith memories of our past failures and regrets, and the legacy of hurts and abuse. We pray for those whose memory is impaired by accident, illness or advancing years;hold them securely, Lord, in your remembrance, that in you they may yet be whole and complete.
