Midnight Mint
10.30 pm till late
A place to chill out and meet friends, have a coffee and wait for taxis.
We are asking for volunteers to help in our fresh expression of church to the late night clubbers.
Could you help us to develop relationships with those visiting the clubs in Fore Street?
Midnight Mint Started in September 2007, our aims are to use a room at the Mint Methodist church to provide a warm and friendly space where clubbers can meet at the weekend and wait for taxis. Good coffee and tea will be available, toilets and a warm space with enough volunteers to provide a companionable listening ear and friendly response.
The venue is in full view and radio contact with the doormen at the Walkabout pub, and we are negotiating with the police about further security measures.Training will be offered to volunteers as appropriate.
Our research has revealed that this work happens successfully in other areas. The Hereford project was featured on Songs of Praise in September 2006, and we have contacted existing models in Exmouth, Blackpool and Manchester, from where feed-back and encouragement has been very helpful.
If you could not take part in the practical late night sessions, would you consider being a prayer partner for this Christian community provision in central Exeter?
