RECEPTION OPPORTUNITIES
Have you ever considered becoming one of our Volunteer
Receptionists? It’s a great way to meet people as well as
perform a service to the community and for the Mint.
Here’s what some of our current regular volunteers have
to say about the work.
“It’s a great way to meet people of different cultures and interests and it is very enjoyable.”
“I feel that I am getting to know so many people who come to the Mint for the many varied groups who use our premises.”
“It’s good to show people who use the Mint that we Christians are really quite ‘normal, nice folk!”
“Without us, the Mint would not be able to maintain our commitment to being open from 9.30am – 9.30pm five days a week, and our income from lettings would be considerably less.”
In the New Year there will be one less slot for Volunteers to fill and the new Volunteer Reception times will be as follows:
Monday 6.00pm – 9.30pm
Tuesday 9.30am – 2.00pm
Thursday 9.30am – 1.30pm
Friday 6.00pm – 9.30pm
Currently we have 21 regular volunteers and our aim has always been that volunteers should only have to fill one slot a month. However this needs a pool of about 40 names to allow for flexibility and to cover holiday periods. If you think that this is something that you would be interested in doing, please speak to me and I will be very happy to give you more information about what is involved and can put you in touch with one of our regular volunteers, who can also share with you their first hand experiences. We have found in the past that it is quite helpful for prospective volunteers to share a session with a regular volunteer so that they can experience for themselves what it is like and what is expected, and can then decide whether this is something that they could do. Duties of course vary according to the time and day.
I very much hope that we can increase the number of volunteers for this important and worthwhile aspect of our Christian service.
