During the summer a number of special events have been planned at Exminster Methodist Church.  These include:

Church Anniversary and Gift Weekend on Saturday/Sunday 14th/15th June.  To coincide with our Annual Gift Day we shall be having Cream Teas and various stalls (including cakes, and Fairtrade) on our lawn from 2 pm to 4 pm (indoors if wet!) and warmly invite you to join us that day.  On Sunday 15th June we have a Special Combined Service at 10.30 am to be led by the Revd David J. Easton, Superintendent Minister of the Exeter Circuit.

First hand account

In a recent letter, local based charity, Christian Response to Eastern Europe (CR2EE), report that: Hugh Scudder is currently in Moldova visiting some of the many families that are supported through CR2EE.  He has also gone to oversee some projects which are currently underway to build “support centres” which will provide soup kitchens for the poor and homeless, childcare centres to enable adults to work without having to leave young children unattended at home, and rooms where children can go after school to do their homework and where people can meet together and help each other.

On Wednesday 25th June at 7.30 pm there will be an opportunity to hear Hugh at Exminster Methodist Church when he gives an illustrated talk on the work in Moldova at the Exeter Methodist Circuit World Church Festival.

Singing for the Brain

During the last year Jean Usher, Musician has been continuing to help people suffering from dementia with “Singing for the Brain” and she is coming to our Church on Thursday, 3rd July at 7 pm to tell us of her experiences and to give a musical evening.  IA retiring collection will be taken towards this valuable initiative.

Visit to Dartmoor

On Sunday 3rd August our congregation are planning to lead the morning service at 10.30 am.  Immediately after the service we have arranged to travel to Dartmoor where there will be an opportunity for those who wish to have a walk, whilst others can enjoy the views and maybe eat ice cream!  We plan to reach Poundsgate Methodist Chapel for the afternoon service at 3 pm.

Recent Refurbishment at Exminster Methodist Church:  In the early part of 2008 the church underwent various refurbishment works which included a new roof, a new ceiling, new lighting and a dedicated heating system.  Additionally a fire alarm system and emergency lighting have been fitted throughout the buildings, including the hall which is used by village organizations. Our photographs show the church following the works and some of the large congregation which gathered for the re-opening on 10th March 2008.   Our congregation has seen growth during the last two or three years and we hope to build on this in the future.  We invite to you to join us on any Sunday morning at 10.30 am or please contact our minister, Revd Andrew Sails.  Posters with details of our events and services can be found on the notice board outside the church near the Post Office in Main Street, Exminster and outside the Victory Hall.
