Breakout 2008 ‘Beyond is a Christian Youth Festival organised by MAYC, the youth ‘arm’ of the Methodist Church. It has a long history of successful events where the young people have enjoyed themselves immensely and grown in their Christian faith. In order to attend your child needs to be in year seven of secondary school or above. This year the event is taking place on 11-13th July at Cliff College, Derbyshire

It is intended that we leave Exeter at around 4.30pm Friday 11th July probably by minibus (please provide a packed tea) and arrive at the site around 10pm. There are many events taking place including live bands and seminars, it all culminates in an act of worship Sunday 13th July, we hope to arrive home around 6pm on Sunday 13th July.

The cost is likely to be in the region of £100 per child to cover ticket, accommodation, food on the Saturday and Sunday and transport. This is if we book before 1st February, if we book after it may be as much as £130. I have contacted the Circuit, District and individual churches who are ALL supportive of this event and so we aim to have each child funded by £70, this means that the cost for each young person will be £30. To do this we have to book before the 1st of February, so time is pressing.

I anticipate that this will be an excellent and safe event, I hope to be taking a team of four leaders, all with up to date safeguarding checks and everything will be carried out in accordance with the Methodist safeguarding policy.

If you would like to attend please contact Rev Mark Gilborson (Wonford Methodist Church) before Sunday 27th January.

A WORD IN TIME

‘Recently, the web team at Methodist Church House launched an online Bible study called A Word in Time

A Word in Time follows the readings in the Methodist Prayer Handbook and offers commentary, explanations and questions to ponder on the selected passages.

Writers from all around Methodism have written a week of studies, providing the reader with a tool that allows them to make sense of the Bible and its relevance to 21st century life. This new application brings together the 40,000+ readers of the Methodist Prayer Handbook along with online disciples in their search for daily spirituality.’
