Prayer of the day

  • Yesterday we were crucified with Christ; today we areglorified with him. Yesterday we were dead with Christ; todaywe are sharing in his resurrection. Yesterday we were buriedwith him; today we are waking with him from the sleep ofdeath.Gregory of Nazianzus (329-389)Living Lord, your cross is at the heart of our lives, our buildings, ourworshipand our understanding of your generosity and love for us.Today, may the cross be at the centre of our living, not just a remembrance of the past, but lived out through each action of our day.Help us to live this day not simply for ourselves,so that the sacrifices of todaycontinue to be signs of your love for the world,in the power of Jesus in whose name we pray. Amen.Paul Davis, Lancashire District Chair
